I was glad when they said to me 'Let us go to the House of the Lord'.
Psalm 122

Easter-Sunday
Our community and life together are rooted in our faith in God, prayer and worship together. We value the centrality of the sacraments in our lives and gather weekly for the Holy Eucharist. We believe in the power of prayer, which we foster through our shawl ministry and prayer group. We worship with joy and enthusiasm.

We welcome people of all ages in our worship. Children are especially welcome and we offer aids to enhance their worship experience such as Sunday School, special events and a children’s sermon on the first Sunday of the month.

Children Service
We welcome children in our service and are comfortable with their participation and presence in worship. We provide a Children in Worship Area located at the back of the church. Here you will find bags with activities and crayons for children to enjoy during worship. There are also seasonal bulletins available in the basket next to the bags for the children to use as well as child friendly “Books of Common Prayer” which focus on the Eucharist.

Teenagers participate fully in the life of the church and serve as readers, acolytes, intercessors and ushers.

Each month we celebrate Family Sunday where there is a sermon directed towards the children gathered and they are invited to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist.

Acolytes serve on teams which assist in the worship services. Youth are eligible to become acolytes at about 3rd grade. They lead the processions and attend to the holy table during service.

The Altar Guild is a lay group commissioned by the Rector to be responsible for the preparation of the church for all services: worship, baptisms and memorials. They also care and provide for the sanctuary, altar supplies, flowers and vestments.

The Shawl Ministry is a group of lay people who knit shawls on their own, and throughout the year together, to distribute to shut-ins or those suffering from illness. Shawls are blessed at church prior to being distributed. (See photo above.)

Vestry Person on Duty serves on our vestry (governing board) and welcomes newcomers and parishioners to church on Sunday morning. This person can also answer questions you might have about Christ Church.

The Choir helps lead our worship each week. They rehearse prior to the 10:00 a.m. service. New members are always welcome to join at any time during the year.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors assist in the administration of Holy Communion. All serve during services and some take the Eucharist to parishioners who are unable to be present at worship.

Lectors read the Bible lessons during worship.

Ushers have a variety of responsibilities including greeting people and collecting the offering. They also record the attendance and count the offering with a member of the vestry after the service.

10 a.m. Tuesday Holy Eucharist with Prayers for Peace in the World is held each week to pray for peace in ourselves, our community and the world. All are welcome to join us and bring their own prayers for peace with them to share.
